Woman found dead at apartment was strangled

PORTLAND, Ore. - A 51-year-old woman found dead inside a Northwest Portland apartment died of asphyxiation by strangulation, police said.

The woman's body was discovered late Wednesday night after police were called to the Yards Apartments in the 900 block of Northwest Naito Parkway.

Police initially believed her death was suspicious and later announced that the woman had been strangled.

The victim has been identified as Virginia Malvey.

Another strangulation murder of a woman,51 years old, and three nights ago of a woman supposedly 43, in her apartment in  downtown Portland.It's not believable that this is a coincidence.

Wow, deja-vu... Another woman was strangled at these very apartments back in 2002.

Yikes, I lived in those apartments when that happened and I remember it vividly. First, unmarked detective cars showed up, then police cars, forensics team, medical examiner, and various news vans. Pretty scary. I swear the cops were at the complex at least twice a week. I remember SWAT showing up on one occasion too. It was wild! Never a dull moment!

Isn't that the second strangling this week?  Wasn't the other one at the Swindler apartments?  Scary!

Hmmm can you say serial killer? Maybe. Don't want to jump to conclusion's. But that's kind of a coinkydink don't you think....We'll see how things pan out this weekend. Hopefully it's not a trend. Hopefully they will catch the scumbag...
